THACO AUTO gains VAMA lion's share in February
4/2/2021 1:30:53 PM
As a member of Vietnam automobile manufacturers' association (VAMA), THACO AUTO has ended February with a leading market share at 40.3 percent cumulatively, while 44.6 percent in February. The Vietnamese automaker has sold 5,769 vehicles, including 4,508 passenger cars and 1,261 commercial vehicles.

In February, the whole market had to go through big slumps because of the Covid-19 outbreak in January 28, no more vehicle registration fee cuts, and the Lunar New Year before which people have already bought their vehicles.

As a result, the month has witnessed sharp declines in passenger car sales, 21% lower than January and a 52% year-over-year decrease. However, THACO AUTO has made it to the top thanks to its KIA and Peugeot car sales, the only 2 brands with positive growth during the month.

Compared to January, Peugeot has grown strongly with a 30% increase. The sales have also increased 184% higher than last year. Peugeot 2008 high sales were the explanation for these impressive figures.

Still lower than January, KIA sales however have increased 36% year-on-year. The Korean car brand has taken the lead in VAMA with 2,488 units, accounting for 19.2% of the market share in February 2021.

Contributing to such impressive growth was Kia Seltos SUV with 1,012 units, ranking second among the top 10 best-selling cars in February. During the first 2 months of the year, 2,238 Kia Seltos cars have been consumed, making it one of THACO AUTO's flagships in the market.

Despite market declines under the impacts of Covid-19, meeting customer needs with high-quality and affordable cars along with good looks and luxury, as well as convenient and high-class after-sales service systems, KIA and Peugeot have finally succeeded in the race.
